Gary Kushnirovich brings 10+ years of professional tennis experience to his players
Gary began his tennis career at the age of three in Brooklyn, NY with his father as his coach. Lacking the resources that were readily available to his competition, Gary and his father would watch thousands upon thousands of hours of professional tennis tapes to dissect the top tennis player’s game and integrate it into his own style. By the age of ten, Gary was winning events at the national level, and by his junior year of high school, Gary was ranked in the top 25 in the nation.
In 2008, Gary received the presidential nomination to attend the United States Military Academy under the Obama administration. In his first year at West Point, Gary led his team to the Patriot League Conference Championships, where they won the title. Following West Point, Gary attended St. John’s University, where he led his team to the Big East Championship title for the first time in approximately twenty years.
After college, Gary began coaching and pursuing professional tennis, attaining his first ATP point at his first Futures event. Alongside coaching full-time, Gary’s professional tennis career led him to two finals at 25ks, wins over top 200 players such as Ulises Blanch, and competing at the prestigious New York Open ATP 250.
Throughout his 10+ year tennis career, Gary has received mentorship from some of the leading minds including Tim Mayotte (former ATP top 5, Olympic Silver Medalist, former USTA National Coach), Carlos Maldonado (CEO and Founder of Dead Set, Inc and Pressure Made as well as coach of countless Division 1 players, ITF Junior players, and a number of ATP and WTA players), and Numrud Nino Muhatasov (Co-Founder and Director of MatchPoint NYC, former coach of top WTA and ATP players as well as a vast number of high performance juniors and college players).
Gary is certified as a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Performance Coach as well as a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Elite Professional specializing in the development of competitive players. As a coach, Gary brings years of experience competing and coaching at the highest level to immerse his players in the professional environment they need to develop and maximize their potential.
